Your wifi is encrypted and a trial version of McAfee came with that new HP the kid at Best Buy sold you, so no need to worry about computer security, right? Unfortunately, security is a whole lot more complex than your average computer user might imagine.

There are literally hundreds of ways that malware and hackers can compromise your system security, most of which you’ve never heard of. Thankfully, however, there are a number of online tools available which will help you identify (and sometimes fix) the vulnerabilities in your system. In this article we’ve selected 12 basic tests you can run on your machine to identify its weaknesses.

  1. Audit My PC: Audit My PC is a terrific site for finding all kinds of security tests to run on your computer. The Firewall test makes sure your present firewall is configured correctly; the Anonymous surfing and privacy check finds out how much of your personal information is available to online hackers; and the free Web site monitoring system will “find out if your ISP is having problems” or if “unauthorized ports have been opened on your firewall.” Each tool is completely free.
  2. Qualys FreeScan: Large networks should be given this free test, which “allows you to quickly and accurately scan your server for thousands of vulnerabilities that could be exploited by an attacker.” After the scan, the security system will even send you information on how to bolster up your computer’s protection by patching up weak spots.
  3. Proxy Way: This online test evaluates your computer’s privacy settings. Passwords and firewalls can be hacked more easily than you might think, but this test “shows how much of your private information can be collected by Web sites when you visit them – your current IP Address, browser and computer information.”
  4. Test My Firewall: This site gives basic advice about maximizing Web security, as well as specific tips on how to test your Firewall, bandwith, and broadband connection.
  5. Hijack This: Downloading the Hijack This program will help you get into the mind of a hijacker. Automatic updates constantly search your system for potential hackers, but let you decide whether or not you want to delete anything.
  6. GFI Email Security Testing Zone: If you think you’re safe from e-mail viruses just because you have a Spam filter, think again. Many sophisticated worms and viruses are designed to circumvent spam filters for maximum destruction. The above link will connect you to a site that allows you to register for thorough e-mail security checks, like the attachment with no file name vulnerability test and the fragmented message vulnerability test.
  7. WindowSecurity.com: This site sponsors another valuable security test for evaluating e-mail vulnerability. Detailed descriptions let you know exactly how each test works and why you need to run it. The site also comes with a guarantee that the “tests are very safe and do not do anything dangerous” to your computer.
  8. The PCman Website Virus Test: This free virus scanner test plants a “harmless” fake virus — the Eicar Virus test string — to gauge your computer’s ability to notice real viruses. In other words, “if your virus scanner is set up and working properly it should intercept the downloading of these [fake] files.” It’s an easy, risk-free way of testing your computer’s security.
  9. Sophos Threat Detection Test: Downloading this program will test your current anti-virus software to make sure it’s effectively protecting your computer. The free scan runs along with your current anti-virus software and is automatically updated; however, you get to choose when you want Sophos to run the test. Sophos is compatible with Windows 2000, XP, 2003, and Vista, and “checks performance of Symantec, McAfee, Trend, CA, Kaspersky and F-Secure.”
  10. Symantec Security Check: Symantec has long been regarded as a professional, trustworthy resource in anti-virus protection. Run the security scan and virus detection test to find out if your computer is vulnerable to any threats. Both are free.
  11. Nmap: Nmap, or Network Mapper, has the capability to audit the security systems on huge networks. It’s free to download, and “most operating systems are supported, including Linux, Microsoft Windows, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, Solaris, IRIX, Mac OS X, HP-UX, NetBSD, Sun OS, Amiga, and more.”
  12. PC Security Test 2007: This comprehensive security test scans Windows operating systems for viruses, spyware, and hacking threats. Once the scan is finished, “PC Securtiy computes a security index and provides tips on improving PC security.” The best part? The download is completely free.

The 12 resources in this article are designed to make you aware of the many potential weak spots in your system’s security. Information is power, so now that you know where you need to upgrade, we encourage you to go out and repair some of the chinks you’ve discovered in your computer’s armor.

firefox-logo

You may have installed countless add-on in Firefox to enhance your using experience, but if you want to get the most out of Firefox, you really have to hack your way into the about:config.

The about:config page contains most (if not, all) of Firefox configuration options. It is so far the most effective, and the most powerful way to tweak and enhance your Firefox performance. Here are 28 of the popular tweaks.

Accessing your about:config page

In your Firefox, type about:config in the address bar.

about-config

You will be shown a warning page. Click the “I’ll be careful, I promise!” button to proceed.

firefox-config-warning

On the main page, you will see a long list of configuration entries. Enter the name of the key you want to update in the “Filter” field. The list will narrow to only the entries that match your keyword as you type.

To modify the value, simply double click on the entry value field and update the entry. That’s all!

Isn’t that simple? Now, let’s get to the tweaking.

1) Adjust the Smart Location Bar’s Number of Suggestions

In Firefox 3, when you start typing in the location bar, a drop-down list of suggestion URLs will be shown. If you want it to show more than 12 suggestions (12 is the default), you can adjust the browser.urlbar.maxRichResults keys and get it to show the number you want.

Config name: browser.urlbar.maxRichResults
Default: 12
Modified value: Set to your desired number of suggestion. If you want to disable it all together, set it to -1

2) Disable the session restore function

Firefox 3 automatically saves your session every 10 secs so that whenever it crashes, it can restore all your tabs. While this is a useful feature, some of you might find it irritating. To disable this function, toggle the value of browser.sessionstore.enabled to False

Config name: browser.sessionstore.enabled
Default: True
Modified value: False if you want to disable the session restore function

3) Adjust the Session Restore Saving Frequency

Same as above, if you decided to keep the session restore feature on, but want to reduce the session saving frequency, change the value of browser.sessionstore.interval so that Firefox will save the session at a longer interval.

Config name: browser.sessionstore.interval
Default: 10000 (in msecs, equivalent to 10secs)
Modified value: Set it to your desired value. 1000 means 1 sec and 60000 means 1 minute.

4) Enable Advanced Color Profile Support

Firefox has this advanced color profile features that display higher image quality. It is not enabled by default as it has a negative effect on the performance of the browser. If you are concern with the image quality rather than the performance, you can activated it via the gfx.color_management.enabled setting

Config name: gfx.color_management.enabled
Default: False
Modified value: True (if you want to activate the color profile support feature)

5) Disable Antivirus Scanning

This is mainly for Windows users. By default, Firefox 3 automatically scan the downloaded file with the default anti-virus application to make sure it is free of virus. If you download a big file, it could take a long time for the whole scanning process to complete. To increase the performance of the browser, you might want to consider disabling the anti-virus scanning via the browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone key.

Config name: browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone
Default: True
Modified value: False (if you want to disable it)

6) Configuring The Scrolling Tabs

When you opened many tabs, Firefox will not keep on reducing the tab width. Instead, it shows a scrolling bar so that the min width (100px) is conserved and you can scroll to find your tabs. If you are those who don’t like the scrolling tab function and prefer Firefox to show all the tabs, regardless how small it is, you can set the value of browser.tabs.tabMinWidth to 0 to disable it. Similarly, if you want Firefox to display more tabs before showing the scrolling button, you can reduce the default value to a lower value, say 75 pixels.

Firefox-scrollingtab

Config name: browser.tabs.tabMinWidth
Default: 100
Modified value: 0 if you want to disable the scrolling functions, other values to set the min width value

7) Show/Disable Close button on Tabs

Some people love to see the Close (the red X) button on every tabs, but some hate it. Whatever is it, you can configure it to your preferences via the browser.tabs.closeButtons setting.

firefox-tab-close

Config name: browser.tabs.closeButtons
Default: 1
Modified values:

  • 0 – display a close button on the active tab only
  • 1- display close buttons on all tabs
  • 2- don’t display any close buttons
  • 3- display a single close button at the end of the tab strip

8) Extend Scripts Execution Time

In Firefox 3, a script is only given 10 seconds to respond, after which it will issue a unresponsive script warning. If you are hooked on a slow network connection, you might want to increase the script execution time via dom.max_script_run_time to cut down on the frequency of the no script warning.

Config name: dom.max_script_run_time
Default:10 (in secs)
Modified value: 20, or any values greater than 10

9) Handling JavaScript Popups

When you come across a site that executes a javascript open new window function, and if the popup window is without all the usual window features, i.e. back/forward/reload buttons, status bar etc, Firefox will automatically treat it as a popup and will not open it as a new tab. However, if you find this to be a nuisance and wanted to open all new windows in a new tabs, you can specify it via the browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction setting.

Config name: browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction
Default: 2 – Open all JavaScript windows the same way as you have Firefox handle new windows unless the JavaScript call specifies how to display the window
Modified values:

  • 0 – open all links as how you have Firefox handle new windows
  • 1 – do not open any new windows
  • 2- open all links as how you have Firefox handle new windows unless the Javascript specify how to display the window

10) Enable Spell Checking In All Text Fields

The default spell checking function only checks for multi-line text boxes. You can get it to spell-check for single line text box as well.

Config name: layout.spellcheckDefault
Default: 1 (spell checker for multi-lines text boxes only)
Modified values:

  • 0 – disable the spell checker
  • 2 – enable the spell checker for all text boxes

11) Open Search Box Results In New Tab

When you search using the search box at the top right hand corner of the browser, it will display the search results in the current tab. If you don’t want the search to interfere with your current tab, you can tweak the browser.search.openintab to make it open in a new tab.

Config Name: browser.search.openintab
Default: False
Modified value: True (open search box results in new tab)

12) Lower The Physical Memory Used When Minimized

This tweak is mainly for Windows users. When you minimize Firefox, it will send Firefox to your virtual memory and free up your physical memory for other programs to use. Firefox will reduce its physical memory usage, when minimized, to approximately 10MB (give or take some) and when you maximize Firefox it will take back the memory that it needs.

The preference name does not exist and needs to be created.

Right click on the background and select New->Boolean.

Enter the name when prompted: config.trim_on_minimize
Enter the values: True

13) Speed up your Firefox

Several tweaks required for this

Config name: network.http.pipelining
Default: False
Modified value: True

Config name: network.http.proxy.pipelining
Default: False
Modified value: True

Config name: network.http.pipelining.maxrequests
Default: 4
Modified value: any value higher than 4, but not more than 8

Config name: network.http.max-connections
Default: 30
Modified value: 96

Config name: network.http.max-connections-per-server
Default: 15
Modified value: 32

14) Increase/Decrease the Amount of Disk Cache

When a page is loaded, Firefox will cache it into the hard disk so that it doesn’t need to be download again for redisplaying. The bigger the storage size you cater for Firefox, the more pages it can cache.

Before you increase the disk cache size, make sure that browser.cache.disk.enabled browser.cache.disk.enable is set to True.

Config name: browser.cache.disk.capacity
Default: 50000 (in KB)
Modified value:

  • 0 – disable disk caching
  • any value lower than 50000 reduces the disk cache
  • any value higher than 50000 increases the disk cache.

15) Select all text when click on the URL bar

In Windows and Mac, Firefox highlights all text when you click on the URL bar. In Linux, it does not select all the text. Instead, it places the cursor at the insertion point. Regardless which platform you are using, you can now tweak it to either select all or place cursor at insertion point.

Config name: browser.urlbar.clickSelectsAll
Modified value:

  • False – place cursor at insertion point
  • True – select all text on click

16) Autofill Address in URL Bar

Other than the smart location feature, you can also get your URL bar to autofill the address as you type the URL.

Config name: browser.urlbar.autofill
Default: False
Modified value: True (Have Firefox autofill the address as you type in the URL bar)

17) Same Zoom Level For Every Site

Firefox remembers your zoom preference for each site and set it to your preferences whenever you load the page. If you want the zoom level to be consistent from site to site, you can toggle the value of browser.zoom.siteSpecific from True to False.

Config name: browser.zoom.siteSpecific
Default: True
Modified value: False (enable same zoom preferences for every sites)

18) Setting your zoom limit

If you find that the max/min zoom level is still not sufficient for your viewing, you can change the zoom limit to suit your viewing habits.

Config name: zoom.maxPercent
Default: 300 (percent)
Modified value: any value higher than 300

Config name: zoom.minPercent
Default: 30 (percent)
value: any value

19) Configure Your Backspace Button

In Firefox, you can set your backspace to better use by getting it to either go back to the previous page or act as page up function.

Config name: browser.backspace_action
Default: 2 (does nothing)
Modified value:

  • 0 – go back previous page
  • 1- page up

20) Increase Offline Cache

If you do not have access to Internet most of the time, you might want to increase the offline cache so that you can continue to work offline. By default, Firefox 3 caches 500MB of data from supported offline Web apps. You can change that value to whatever amount of your choice.

Config name: browser.cache.offline.capacity
Default: 512000 (in KB)
Modified value: any value higher than 512000 will increase the cache value

21) Auto Export Firefox 3 bookmarks to bookmarks.html

Unlike the previous version, Firefox 3 backup the bookmarks file in places.sqlite rather than the usual bookmarks.html. Since bookmarks.html allows us to export and sync our bookmarks with other browser, it will be very useful if Firefox 3 can backup the bookmark to the bookmarks.html as well.

Config name: browser.bookmarks.autoExportHTML
Default: False
Modified value: True (auto export bookmarks file to bookmarks.html)

22) Disable Extension Compatibility Checks

This is useful if you want to use an extension that is not supported by your version of Firefox badly. It is not recommended, but you can still do it at your own risk.

Right click and select New->Boolean. Enter extensions.checkCompatibility in the field. Enter False in the next field.

Right click again and select New->Boolean. Enter extensions.checkUpdateSecurity into the field and enter False into the next field.

23) Disable Delay Time When Installing Add-on

Everytime you wanted to install a Firefox add-on, you will have to wait for several secs before the actual installation starts. If you are tired of waiting, you can turn the function security.dialog_enable_delay off so that the installation will start immediately upon clicking.

firefox-add-on-delay

Config name: security.dialog_enable_delay
Default: 2000 (in msec)
Modified value:

  • 0 – start installation immediately
  • any other value (in msec)

24) View Source in Your Favorite Editor

This is very useful for developers who are always using the ‘view source‘ function. This tweak allows you to view the source code in an external editor.

There are two configuration need to be made:
Config name: view_source.editor.external
Default: False
Modified value: True ( enable view source using external text editor)

Config name: view_source.editor.path
Default: blank
Modified value: insert the file path to your editor here.

25) Increasing ‘Save Link As‘  timeout value

When you right click and select the ‘Save Link As…‘, the browser will request the content disposition header from the URL so as to determine the filename. If the URL did not deliver the header within 1 sec, Firefox will issue a timeout value. This could happen very frequently in a slow network connection environment. To prevent this issue from happening frequently, you can increase the timeout value so as to reduce the possibility of a timeout.

Config name: Browser.download.saveLinkAsFilenameTimeout
Default: 1000 (1 sec)
Modified value: any value higher than 1000 (value is in msec)

26) Animate Fullscreen Toolbar Collapse mode

In Firefox’s fullscreen mode, toolbars and the tab strip are hidden at the top of the screen and only shown on mouseover. To draw attention to this, there is an animation of the toolbar sliding upwards and off-screen when fullscreen mode is toggled on. For performance issue, the animation of the collapse of the toolbar only appear for the first time. For some reason that you may love/hate the animation, you can adjust Browser.fullscreen.animateUp to switch it on/off for every collapse.

Config name: Browser.fullscreen.animateUp
Default: 1 (animate the toolbar collapse only the first time)
Modified value:

  • 0 -disable the animation
  • 2- enable the animation for every collapse

27) Autohide Toolbar in Fullscreen mode

In fullscreen mode, the toolbar is set to autohide and appear upon mouseover. If you have a need to view the toolbar at all time, you can toggle the value of browser.fullscreen.autohide to False to always show the toolbar.

Config name: browser.fullscreen.autohide
Default: True (always autohide)
Modified value: False (always show the toolbar)

28) Increase Add-On search result

If you go to Tools->Add-ons->Get Add-ons and perform a search there, Firefox will only fetch and display 5 matching results. If you want Firefox to show more than 5 results (say 10), you can adjust extensions.getAddons.maxResults to get it to display more results.

Config name: extensions.getAddons.maxResults
Default: 5
Modified value: any value more than 5

This list of about:config is definitely not the complete list. If you have any tricks not listed here, please add it in the comment.

This is a tutorial on how to hack Sony Ericsson and Nokia mobile phones via bluetooth using Super Bluetooth Hack software.

First download the program called “Super Bluetooth Hack” (also known as “BT Info”)

Download from here. this is not a zip file, if you have downloaded a zip file, delete it and than try the other link to download.
or if you have problem downloading ( specially internet explorer users ), try this link (this is a zip file so you have to unzip this file before you put it on your phone)

Using this program you can do the following things on the other phone:

open and read SMS
open phone book
change profiles
play ring tones (even if phone is on silent)
play songs/mp3s
restart and turn off the phone
restore factory settings
change ringing volume
make a call from the other phone (it includes all call functions like hold etc.)

Instructions

1.) When the devices are connecting, use 0000 as the code

2.) Bluetooth must be turned on, on both devices before you run the BT application. if you forget to turn it on, close the application than turn on the bluetooth and than run the application again.

3.) Use Mozilla Firefox to download the file because Internet Explorer makes it a .zip file. If you don’t want to download Firefox, you have to change the extension of the file from “.zip” to “.jar”.
If you downloaded the file as a “.zip” file, here is explained how to change it to a “.jar” file:

With Windows:

1. Go to Start – Computer

2. In the menubar, go to: Tools – Folder Options(With Windows Vista, you have to hit the “Alt” key before you can see the “Tools” menu)

3. Go to “View”, and than deselect the mark from “Hide extentions for known file types”.

4. Then search for your “SuperBluetoothHack_v108.zip” file. Now change the last part from “.zip” to “.jar”, and confirm it.

5. Now you can send it to your phone and open it.

Installation instructions for a Sony Ericsson using a USB cable:

1. Connect your phone with your computer.

2. It mounts as a disk.

3. Drag the file that you have just downloaded (SuperBluetoothHack_v108.jar) to /MSSEMC/Media files/other/ on that disk (=your phone).

4. Disconnect the USB cable from your phone.

5. Go to the folder “Other” on your phone.

6. There is the application. Select it and click “Install”.

7. The program is installed on the place you specified. Most likely it’s the Applications folder.

Change the language to English:

If the software starts with the language “Slovencina”, you can change it to English on this way:

1.If you start the application for the first time you see “Nastavenia” in the title.

2. Go a bit down until you see “Jazyk”.

3. Click choose.

4. Select “English”.

5. Click “More”.

6. Click “Spat”.

7. Now the program is in English.

I hope you enjoyed blue tooth hacking using super bluetooth hack application, and remember never leave your blue tooth turned on unnecessarily.

Ps:this software is not compatible with all devices

Want to dazzle your friends with your technical powers while checking out the profitability of a vending machine route? Read on. Most Coke machines built since the late 1990s can be hacked with a simple access code. Once you enter the code, you can find out all kinds of information about the machine’s sales.
Please note that this article does not teach you how to steal drinks from drink machines. Stealing is, of course, illegal.

Steps

  1. Find a machine that has an LED screen and that is by “Royal Vendors”. There should be a label on both sides of the machine. The small screen will typically scroll a message such as “Ice Cold Cokes”. If the machine’s LED display simply displays the price, the steps below may not work.
  2. Enter the access code by using the drink selection buttons. The default access code is 4, 2, 3, 1, but the buttons aren’t numbered. They will either say nothing or have pictures of Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, and other Coca-Cola products on them.
    • If the buttons are in a column, button 1 is the top one. Button 2 is the second one from the top, and so on.
    • If they are in a grid or other format, button 1 is the top left one. Button 2 is the one directly to the right of that, and so on.
  3. Scroll through the menu to find out information about the machine. Once you enter the correct access code, the message on the LED screen will change. Typically it will say “EROR,” but on some machines it may simply display a number. Use the buttons to navigate through the menu.
    • Press button 1 at any time to return to the previous menu or to exit the menu to go back to normal mode.
    • Press button 2 to scroll up through the selections.
    • Press button 3 to scroll down through the selections.
    • Press button 4 to select the displayed menu option.

Example Menu Options

  • EROR: This menu option displays error messages for the machine, including problems that occurred with the refrigeration system, the vending mechanism, the bill changer, and the bill validator. To see error messages, press the select button (button 4) when the display shows EROR, and then scroll through to see specific errors. Select an individual error to see more details. Generally if only one type of error has occurred you won’t be able to scroll through other error options.
  • CASH: This option allows you to see the machine’s total historical cash intake, as well as the resettable cash counted for each drink selection. Press the select button when the the LED display shows CASH. This will show you the historical cash counted by the machine. Note that it will include fractions of a dollar, such that if it displays 1452425, the historical cash count is $14,524.25. Use the scroll buttons (2 or 3) to navigate to the cash counts for each slot (each beverage selection). The number displayed will show first the slot number and then the revenue for that slot number since the last time the counter was reset. In some machines, it will be preceded by the letters CA or SL (for “slot”).
  • SALE: This option allows you to see the machine’s historical total number of sales, as well as the resettable number of sales for each drink selection. It works like the CASH menu above, except that the numbers displayed reflect the number of beverages sold.
  • RTN: Sometimes labeled EXIT, this option stands for “Return To Normal” and allows you to exit the menu completely and return the machine to normal mode. Press the select button to exit.

Alternate Menu

  • On machines with two panels of six buttons on each side, the same 4-2-3-1 code will access the Electronic Counter for the machine. After accessing this menu, press 1 to see the total lifetime sales, 2 for the total lifetime items sold, 3 for a breakdown of items sold of each selection, 4 for a breakdown of cash generated for each selection, and 5 for the machine’s internal temperature. After a while without input, the machine will return to the normal menu. On some machines, the 6 button will close the menu.

Tips

  • This only works for Coke machines, which may sell products such as Barq’s Root Beer, Sprite, Dasani, Evian, Fanta, Fresca, Frutopia, Full Throttle, Powerade, Hi-C, Minute Maid, Nestea, Odwalla, Mr. Pibb, Planet Java, Seagram’s Ginger Ale, Simply Orange, Sparkletts, or Tab in addition to Coke and Diet Coke.
  • This hack also usually works on machines that sell just Dasani water – a product of the Coca-Cola company.
  • In general, these are the only options you can access without having the door unlocked and open. Different machines may list these options in somewhat different formats, so experiment a bit to learn what each new one does.
  • If you need to exit the menu quickly (i.e. when you just can’t wait another second to buy an ice cold Coke) press the change (coin return) button. This will normally quit the menu.
  • On some machines, holding the coin return button will display the machine’s inner temperature.
  • Vending machine owners or service people have the option to change the access sequence from 4231 to some other combination of buttons, but they rarely do. This is probably because having one code makes it easier for anyone to service all the machines along a route. It may also be because the information you can access through the external menu with the door closed is limited and fairly harmless.
  • There are several videos available on the Internet that show people using this hack. Many claim to be able to change prices or get a free drink, but the videos don’t actually show them doing so.
  • In order to get to the same menu in a machine that sells Pepsi products, simply enter 1,3,2,4. All the menu options should be the same. (This does not work on all Pepsi machines)
  • This might also work on some Coke vending machines that have a numeric keypad instead of buttons for specific drinks. Enter in the Coke code as usual, and you’ll get to the sales menu!
  • Some machines require you to enter the code twice.
  • Several machines display a list of more codes, but most have the dispense options disabled.

Warnings

  • This will generally be frowned upon by store staff or machine service people, so exercise caution when trying it out, and be sure to follow any applicable laws in your jurisdiction.
  • Don’t do this if there’s a line behind you, as people may get upset waiting for you.
  • You might waste your time doing this, as Coca-Cola has distributed new firmware to their vendors that would render these instructions unusable.
  • You may be asked to leave or be fined if the owner catches you.
  • Use common sense, don’t do it when others are around or in front of a camera.

Another one got caught today, it’s all over the papers. “Teenager Arrested in Computer Crime Scandal”, “Hacker Arrested after Bank Tampering”…

Damn kids. They’re all alike.

But did you, in your three-piece psychology and 1950’s technobrain, ever take a look behind the eyes of the hacker? Did you ever wonder what made him tick, what forces shaped him, what may have molded him?

I am a hacker, enter my world…

Mine is a world that begins with school… I’m smarter than most of the other kids, this crap they teach us bores me…

Damn underachiever. They’re all alike.

I’m in junior high or high school. I’ve listened to teachers explain for the fifteenth time how to reduce a fraction. I understand it. “No, Ms. Smith, I didn’t show my work. I did it in my head…”

Damn kid. Probably copied it. They’re all alike.

I made a discovery today. I found a computer. Wait a second, this is cool. It does what I want it to. If it makes a mistake, it’s because I screwed it up. Not because it doesn’t like me… Or feels threatened by me.. Or thinks I’m a smart ass.. Or doesn’t like teaching and shouldn’t be here…

Damn kid. All he does is play games. They’re all alike.

And then it happened… a door opened to a world… rushing through the phone line like heroin through an addict’s veins, an electronic pulse is sent out, a refuge from the day-to-day incompetencies is sought… a board is found. “This is it… this is where I belong…” I know everyone here… even if I’ve never met them, never talked to them, may never hear from them again… I know you all…

Damn kid. Tying up the phone line again. They’re all alike…

You bet your ass we’re all alike… we’ve been spoon-fed baby food at school when we hungered for steak… the bits of meat that you did let slip through were pre-chewed and tasteless. We’ve been dominated by sadists, or ignored by the apathetic. The few that had something to teach found us willing pupils, but those few are like drops of water in the desert.

This is our world now… the world of the electron and the switch, the beauty of the baud. We make use of a service already existing without paying for what could be dirt-cheap if it wasn’t run by profiteering gluttons, and you call us criminals. We explore… and you call us criminals. We seek after knowledge… and you call us criminals. We exist without skin color, without nationality, without religious bias… and you call us criminals. You build atomic bombs, you wage wars, you murder, cheat, and lie to us and try to make us believe it’s for our own good, yet we’re the criminals.

Yes, I am a criminal. My crime is that of curiosity. My crime is that of judging people by what they say and think, not what they look like. My crime is that of outsmarting you, something that you will never forgive me for.

I am a hacker, and this is my manifesto. You may stop this individual, but you can’t stop us all… after all, we’re all alike.

download-flash-games Do you like to play flash games online? Have you ever wondered if there is a way to download those flash games to your computer and play them on your desktop without seeing distracting ads ?

Here we’ll show you how to do just that. First how to download flash games to your PC and then how to play them offline. So if you’re hooked on some addictive flash game this guide should help you get it offline and play it on your desktop.

1. Download Flash Games

Downloading flash games to your PC is a fairly easy process and there are lots of ways to do it. One way to get the game file is to look inside the page’s source code and find the direct link to the game file on the site. Another option is to wait for the game to load in your browser and later get it from the temporary files folder of your browser. Or you can just go to the site called File2HD and let it get the game file for you.

File2HD can help you download flash games from most of the online gaming sites. That being said, it doesn’t work with Kongregate, one of the best sites for Flash games. Althou I had no problems getting flash games from hugely popular sites like AddictiveGames.

So how does it work:

1. Go to the page with the flash game you want to download.

2. Copy the page URL and paste it into File2HD.

3. Set ‘Filter’ to ‘Objects’ option and click on ‘Get Files’ button.

4. Next, File2HD should retrieve the direct link to the game file.

download flash games

5. Right click on the link an use ‘Save Link As’ option to save the game to your computer.

2. Play Flash Games Offline

Once you have the game files on your system you can use a simple freeware program called FlashOffliner (Windows only) to take those raw .swf flash files, turn them into playable games, and neatly organize them under one menu.

Here are the steps you need to do:

1. Download and Install FlashOffliner.

Flash Offliner

The FlashOffliner setup comes with 2 games by default and 3 more that can be added later. If you want to install them as well then check step 4.

2. Once you have FlashOffliner up and running, you should see a new icon in the taskbar. Right click on the icon to see the list of available games and program options.

games offline

3. It takes two steps to add a downloaded flash game to your FlashOffliner games list. The first thing you need to do is click on the ‘Create New Flash Offliner Package’ and then point it to the downloaded file. Then you will be asked to name your new game and for a couple of more optional details. At the end it should create game_name.fop file for you.

4. Again right click on the FlashOffliner icon and this time select the ‘Install FlashOffliner Option’. Point the app to the newly created game_name.fop file to “install” the game.

5. This will install the game and add it to your FlashOffliner games. See screenshot below.

Flash Offliner - flash games offline

That’s about it, now you can simply click on the game of your choice and play it offline right on your desktop. By default the game window size is set to 800×600 but you can easily resize it to 400×300, 640×480, 1024×768 or Full Screen mode.

Here are some cool and weird things that you can do with your microsoft Windows and Word.  I’m not sure if they released any formal answers about this.  Anyway, try it for yourself.

1. Nobody can create a FOLDER anywhere on the Computer which can be named as “CON, ON, PRN, AUX, CLOCK$, NUL, COM1, COM2, COM3, COM4, COM5, COM6, COM7, COM8, COM9, LPT1, LPT2, LPT3, LPT4, LPT5, LPT6, LPT7, LPT8, LPT9 “.   No one in Microsoft Tech Team can explain it.

2.  Do to following:
1.) Open an empty notepad file
